Another remarkable happening was our nomination, (by persons unknown), for a Citizens Charter, Charter Mark Award. An inspector arrived from Whitehall and was full of what she found. "We all wanted to come and do you" was one of her comments and "you should be the jewel in the crown" another. What actually resulted was an apologetic letter from another government official explaining that, on reflection, Ledbury Station was not the correct sort of organisation to receive this award. On the way though, we did receive another certificate.
